Our students (really at all ages) can all be digital authors. We've authored digital content in this course - and part of my intention in providing a range of opportunities in that domain has been to help you express your thinking across a range of modes and media. There are responsibilities there, though. This is a you tube video created to express an intentional message to a specific audience using the mode that best conveys his meaning. What are the social responsibilities we have in creating digital content? And, what does it mean to teach now that our students have a creative digital authorship tool in their pocket?

"I want to make the lives of individual people here better" (The Third Pew video). My fiancee says that I have a save the world attitude. I guess I do and I know it isn't realistic. But I know that as a middle school science teacher that each year I will have 150 walk through my classroom door. More if I help with after school programs and activities. If I can make an impact on these individuals each year then I know I am completing my mission the best way I know how.
